Driver License Examiner, Vks Gun Controller Not Suspended After Causing Fatal Accident.

~ No advice sent to Minister of TEATT informing him that the civil servant is under investigation. ~

PHILIPSBURG: --- The civil servant and VKS gun controller and officer Charles Samuel who caused the fatal accident on L. B Scot Road on Wednesday, August 25th, 2021 is still on active duty and not suspended even though the police has started an investigation into the deadly accident that left Simpson Bay resident Jason Peterson dead.
Based on research conducted by SMN News it turned out that the driver of the SUV that was involved in the accident is the brother of Minister of Education Rodolphe Samuel.

Mp Buncamper Meets With W. Nisbeth Road Vendors.

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — On Friday morning, Member of Parliament (MP) Claudius Buncamper, faction leader of the United St. Maarten Party (USP) in parliament, together with his faction staff Fernando Clark met with a number of vendors operating on the Ring Road side of the Walter Nisbeth Road.

During the meeting the vendors informed the MP that last April they were invited to a meeting with SG Miguel De Weever and Valya Pantophlet during which they were informed that they will be relocated to the festival Village on the tentative date of July 1st, after which they will no longer be permitted to operate from their present locations.

Adjustments Made To Phased Reopening

~ 6:00am to 8:00pm opening allowed from Phase 2 ~

PHILIPSBURG--Several adjustments have been made to the phased reopening plan of the country, with several businesses added and shifted within the reopening schedule.

Additionally, as of May 18, for Phase 2 of the reopening, businesses will be allowed to open from 6:00am to 8:00pm, from Mondays to Fridays. Businesses will continue to remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays to allow Collective Prevention Services (CPS) to conduct its community outreach programme to identify potential COVID-19 cases in the various districts.

Us Coast Guard Conducts Port Assessment On Isps

PHILIPSBURG – Over the course of three days, February 22-25, St. Maarten underwent another bi-annual Country Assessment.

Two facilities were assessed, namely, the A.C. Wathey Cruise & Cargo Facilities and Chevron Bulk Station.
